Shoe Repairman, Randy
Shoe Repairman, Randy | 48”x 60” | Oil on Panel
In appreciation for the many blue collar workers who provide valuable services in our local communities, I did a series of six large Blue Collar Worker paintings.
In exhibition, when these paintings were hung, we raised them a bit higher on the wall than is typical. This gave viewers an addditional opportunity to ‘look up to’ all blue colar workers who do so much for each of us.
One of the subjects in this series is Randy, a shoe repairman from my home town. Randy and his brother are second generation coblers, trained by their father. Randy has a fun personality with many sole wearing stories to tell.
Here we see Randy working at his Singer sewing machine, glancing up at us. We can see some of his shop space and equipment behind him.
